When Confucius visited the imperial temple of the Zhou Dynasty, he saw qi (a utensil used for timing) and said, "When qi is full of water, it will turn upside down automatically, and pour out the excess water. Then it could automatically return to its upright state." His disciples tried, and found out that the result was exactly as Confucius said. "Nothing can be full without overturning!" Confucius said. Zilu asked, "Is there a way to fill it with water without overturning?" Confucius replied, "Reduce some water would be alright! One loses by pride and gains by modesty. This is what we can learn from qi!"
