They travel around and depend on others. We can't rely on them to manage the state. Since the death of the sages and the decline of the Zhou Dynasty, music and rites have been incomplete for a long time. Now Confucius dresses himself up and stipulates cumbersome etiquette of superiority and inferiority, and meticulous manners. There's no limit to learn his etiquette. Your majesty, do you really want to use his set of etiquette to change the customs of Qi state? I'm afraid it's not a good way to guide our people." After that, Duke Jing still treated Confucius respectfully, but no longer asked him about rites and music. Later, a Da fu of Qi state planned to murder Confucius. Confucius told Duke Jing about it, but Duke Jing said, "I'm too old to offer you help." As a result, Confucius had to leave Qi state and return to Lu state.
