Confucius became more and more famous at the age of 51. Duke Ding of Lu state wanted to entrust him with important positions. Lord Ji Huanzi presented a lot of millet to Confucius in an attempt to win over him. After accepted them, Confucius distributed them to his disciples in want. Zigong asked, "You're given the millet by Lord Ji because you're in want, but you shared the gift with the disciples. Isn't it against Lord Ji's kindness?" Confucius replied, "The reason why I accept the gift without refusing is to accept his kindness to me. However, one can't be wealthy depending on receiving other people's money. It's better to benefit hundreds of people than to benefit only one person from Lord Ji's kindness. "
