Confucius once gave lectures in Wei state. One day, Zilu, Zeng Xi, Ran You and Gongxi Hua sat with Confucius. Confucius asked them to talk about their ambitions. Zilu said, "If I would be allowed to govern the state, I will make the state powerful." Ran You said, "If I would be allowed to govern the state, I will let the people enjoy abundant lives." Gongxi Hua said, "I would like to host sacrifices in the ancestral temple or just host ordinary rituals." However, Zeng Xi said, "In warm spring, I would like to go to take a bath in the River Yi with my fellows, have some fresh air on the Wuyu alter, and then walk home singing songs." Confucius sighed deeply and said, "That's a very nice idea!"
