After Duke Ding received them, he held banquets frequently. He did not go to the court to handle political affairs for many days and no longer trusted Confucius. After the great sacrifice of that year, the sacrificial meat should be distributed to the nobles of the state according to the ritual system at that time. However, incited by Lord Ji, Duke Ding did not send the portion to Confucius. Frustrated, Confucius left Lu state with Yan Hui, Zilu, Zigong, Ran You and many other disciples and embarked on the road of wandering for 14 years. This year, Confucius was 55 years old.
