34세, 기원전 518년, 노소공 24년. 맹희자 돌아가시기 직전, 둘째 아들 맹의자와 남궁경숙더러 공자에게서 예를 배우라고 당부하였다. (<좌전·소공7년 左传·昭公七年>참조.) 공자는 노군의 지원을 받아 남궁경숙과 함께 주나라를 둘러보고 문물제도를 관찰하여 수확이 아주 컸다.
