Named after the birthplace of Confucius, an ancient Chinese philosopher, Nishan Forum on World Civilizations is a platform for exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, created in response to the United Nations initiative to conduct dialogue among world civilizations. Its mission is to promote the fine traditional Chinese culture, preserve the diversity of world civilizations, advance world peace and development, and build a human community with a shared future. The first Nishan Forum was held in September 2010 and it has been held eight times in total, playing an important role in deepening exchanges and mutual learning among world civilizations and promoting Chinese culture to the rest of the world.
