On January 15, theAI short drama “Glorious Nishan”debuted online, accompanied by a creators’forum.

The drama was guided by the Radio and Television Administration of Shandong Province and Nishan World Centerfor ConfucianStudies(Secretariatof China Confucius Foundation)and was jointly produced by China Confucius Foundationand Shandong Digital Culture Group. It consists of 36 episodes. Based on the classical painting of “Confucius Sacred Traces”, which presents Confucius’s life story of traveling around the states and advocatingbenevolent governance, and combined with relevant content from The Analects of Confucius, it tells the story of Confucius’s life full of hardships but unwavering in his aspirations in the form of AI short drama. The drama was premiered and launched both on the homepage of Youku and the homepage of Youku Short Drama Channel.

The experts and scholars gathered to discuss the creative process, the innovative practices in technical application, artistic expression, and cultural dissemination, as well as the pathways and prospects for promoting the contemporary adaptation of classic Chinese traditional culture through short dramas. Participants from the fields of Confucianism, film and television, communication, and digital technology engaged in discussions. It is widely believed that this drama has achieved a technological breakthrough by transforming the static scenes of“ConfuciusSacred Traces”into adynamic narrative. It also leverages the viral dissemination of short-video platforms to transform Confucius from a "historical symbol" into a "approachablespiritual mentor". Through situational interpretation, it showcases the practical wisdom of core concepts such as "benevolence" and "ritual", providing a "small-scale, in-depth exploration" model for thecreative transformation and innovative development offine traditional culture.
