On May 7th, the opening ceremony for Shandong Library’s Foreign Literature Branch of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee was held at the Academy of Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee. Shandong Library has provided the Foreign Literature Branch of Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Shandong Provincial Party Committee with nearly 1,000 volumes of original foreign language books and journals in more than 10 languages, including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Thai, covering a wide range of disciplines such as politics, economics and culture, and in the future it would be supplemented and updated regularly based on the demand from readers. The establishment of the Foreign Language Branch contributes to support the personnel of the Foreign Affairs Office to better understand the international political and economic situation as well as conduct foreign exchanges.

　　The Foreign Literature Branch of Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee is the first foreign literature-themed branch set by Shandong Library. Its establishment echoes with the important measure of Shandong Library to increase the utilization rate of foreign literature, make accurate matches between readers and books, develop “literary agencies”, as well as promote foreign cultural exchanges of Shandong. In recent years, Shandong Library has been committed to promoting the nationwide reading program and developing a “literary Shandong”, constantly strengthened the cooperation with government agencies, enterprises and public institutions, and actively built the reading service system for urban and rural residents, so that to enhance the nationwide reading and form an atmosphere where the public loves reading, reads good books and does well in reading.
